Remembering Adam Yauch [Music]

Sad news on Friday, May 4th when it was announced that after fighting cancer since 2009, Beastie Boys co-founder Adam Yauch (MCA) had died. Yauch had been diagnosed with a cancerous parotid gland and lymph node and began treatment in 2009. The arts community as a whole has lost a great person and he will be missed. Gamerwok is dedicating this post today to the memory of MCA.

Five Bands I’d Love to See Reunited [Music]

ED: With our upcoming Coachella festival recap/awards and their ability to bring bands back together now was the perfect time to bring together a list of artists that need to be reunited. 

The musical year of 2011 was a crazy one, not just for the releases itself but also for the multitude of bands getting back together. There were the big reunions with bands like At The Drive-In and The Refused, but also a lot of smaller bands reconvened, such as Yellowcard and The Early November. Last year and early this year, a few bands announced that they were on their way out of the scene, with Thrice and Thursday both embarking on farewell tours. Armor For Sleep and The Receiving End of Sirens are both getting back together to play one last show, both at the Bamboozle festival. This got me thinking about some bands that I’d love to see back together. Inside you will find my list. What do you think? Who would you like to see back together?

Say Anything - Anarchy, My Dear Album Review [Music]

The lead-up to Say Anything’s newest album, Anarchy, My Dear, was a highly anticipated and much-talked about time. Frontman Max Bemis sparked excitement among fans when he hinted at full artistic freedom after signing with Equal Vision Records, citing this record would be more punk-oriented, a la 2004’s …Is A Real Boy.
