There has been recent complaints of Activision licensing the use of the TIME magazine cover-style for its latest advertising campaign. Critics are saying that Activision is crossing the line by using a real magazine to advertise for a video game. But let’s take a step back and look instead at the bigger picture. Are video games becoming too hyper-realistic? We’ve got Modern Warfare 3 depicting a close-to-home World War 3 scenario while Konami tried to publish Six Days in Fallujah last year, a game closely based on actual missions and events in Afghanistan.
