Friday, June 26, 2009 at 8:13AM Every Friday, the editors at GamerWok brings you a collection of cool and useful (mostly) gadgets and tools to help you along in your geektastic journey. Today is no different, except we will be focusing on tools to help you save time!
If you've been a geek through the 80's, you will know that the coolest tech ever kid wanted was a hoverboard, made famous by the film, Back to the Future Part 2. But in that movie, the time traveling Delorean was the toy that all adult fans wanted. Thanks to the folks at ThinkGeek, you can now have a little piece of that time travel goodness with your very own licensed replica Delorean license plate!
The detail in this plate is outstanding! They even go so far as to include the 1986 expiration date! This plate won't make your busted old Honda go 88 MPH but it will certainly solidify your geekhood among fans and friends! As with all products from ThinkGeek, if you use the GamerWok link to purchase your goods, you will receive free Geek Points that can be redeemed towards free schwag! With this replica license plate, you will receive 300 Geek Points for the $29.99 you spend.

The second time saving device is, thank goodness, free! In these hard economic times (/drink), saving time and doing it for free is priority. The always helpful and creative folks at LifeHacker has posted this week a tool that will help you speed through your audio podcasts up to twice as fast! For those of you with an iPhone, the new 3.0 OS software allows you to play music at variable speeds. But if you don't have an iPhone, Podshifter will do the hard work for you!
Source: LifeHacker via PodshifterWhat you simply do is feed the original podcast RSS into Podshifter and select the speed you want the audio sped up. Podshifter will speed up the audio while maintaining the proper pitch and provides a new RSS feed for the faster podcast, which then you can enter into your favorite podcatcher.
This doesn't work with music heavy casts but regular spoken podcasts, such as The GamerWok Hour (shameless plug) will work just fine. This means you can breeze through those epic two plus hours shows in a little over one hour! I know more than one friend that will love this tool and thanks so much to Lifehacker for hacking my life!
