Question of the Week: What Type of Headphones Do You Prefer?

Heaphones/earphones are synomisous with your personal style in today's plugged in lifestyle.  Considering that most schools have even begun to allow students to listen to their own music while taking tests, it's not surprising that rocking out to your own soundtrack is important.  Headphones, unlike speaker technology, does evolve more frequently.  As such, there are a lot of option for users wishing to drown out the outside world and enjoy that sweet melody of John Mayer Kanye West.

She likes it old-school, what about you? She likes it old-school, what about you?

So then, what is your personal choice for headphones?  Do you prefer the ones that sit inside your ear canals or are you old-school with the full sized reproduction of studio headsets?  Speak up and let us know!

i use the etymotic 6isolator in ear phones and i swear by them!

when i was in school i'd have these plugged into my head constantly; whether i'd be walking down the halls listening to kanye or in class studying, music off, they make a great set of ear plugs. it got to the point where i'd be writting a test, (and they don't allow electronic devices in exams at NAIT) that i really couldn't concentrate because i didn't have things in my ears to block out other sounds. i finally started taking actual foam ear plugs into the exams with me.

anyways, these earphones are some of the best i've ever used. they carry a pretty heavy sticker price, but i think they're worth every penny, ($149 from their site, but look for them on ebay) especially if you've got an affinity for sound and don't want the head band/ear muff style ear phone. the sound is clear and the bass is pretty deep considering the size.

if you look at the design of them they have soft rubber flanges that will actually create a seal in your ear canal that WILL cancel out any outside sound and deliver your music (or the angsty podcast) directly to your eardrum. i know, they don't look the most comfortable, but when you put them in correctly, they'll stay in place even if you find yourself running from the cops!
