Question of the Week: In These Troubled Times

With the economy somewhat stabilizing at rock bottom, people are breathing a little bit easier.  But we are far from the end of the road unfortunately.  At the off set of all this who-ha, analysts have said that the video games market was recession proof, but I think that theory has now been proven wrong.  But on the other hand, used games sales are going through the roof.  So the question of the week is this:  has the recession affected your gaming purchases?  Let us know by voting and commenting!

i voted 'no nothing's changed' largely because of all the things i've had to compromise on given the situation, games are really my only true escape from the everyday mundane; i don't wanna give that up!

i get hours and hours of good times with each game and i think that it's worth the money i spend on them. hell, i've started to play fallout again and just yesterday i bought mass effect; that's DAYS of gameing between them! add to that multi player sessions in CoD4 and resident evil and i'm literally swamped with game time.

if games like these continue to churn out, i have no qualms in buying them first day out, hell i don't have a problem buying the collectors edition (fallout $90) first day out, even if they're not worth it (resident evil$100)... (i'm a collectors/limited/special edition whore...)

i refuse to buy used because, dispite your earlier article, i really belive that used games sales are a huge thorn in the developer's side. take mass effect for example: i originally bought that for a buddy for his birthday, when it first came out, and thats how i fist came to play it. years later i buy it again for my collection. i know some people absolve the sin of buying used if you've already bought that game new, but with this being a bioware title, i just couldn't do it to the home team like that!

there's my two cents on the topic!

ps: i dropped you guys a review on itunes!!

cheers!
