Sorry EGM, at least 1Up has one more ContinueJanuary 6th. Mark that day folks because that's the day EGM died and 1Up pretty much did as well. UGO Entertainment, a owned subsidiary of Hearst corporation, decided it was a good time to acquire 1Up while Ziff Davis killed off the magazine. The long time running magazine (founded in 1989) was coming to a slow end on its own after Ziff Davis filed for Chapter 11 last year but the acquisition of 1Up was something of a shocker. Of course, the Internet and associated forums have been crazy over this. I don't think anyone really was surprised by the failure of EGM as a print magazine, especially after the cancellation of PC Magazine earlier last month. But for 1Up to be sold, that was a real shocker.
