Flames finally hot enough to heat up that wok

GamerWok is first and foremost a tech site but it's nice to rant off-topic on occasion.  With that said, the Calgary Flames have finally found their mojo.

Having only won once in their first five games this season, frustrated fans, including yours truly, have wondered exactly what happened.  The disappointment is not without merit considering how well the Flames performed during the preseason.  Perhaps we as the audience should not set such high expectations.  Historically, the Flames in October normally shoot out of the proverbial wok more fizzling than sizzling.

The Flames are looking good finally.  Having won their 3rd straight after defeating the Phoenix Coyotes 4-1, hopefully they can carry over this high into their next game.  Calgary can always count on their star player, Jarome Iginla, to rally the team emotionally and physically but surprisingly is how well Todd Bertuzzi is contributing to the team.  Tied for top spot with Iggy for goals scored (five each), Bertuzzi came from Anaheim last seaon with a whopping 14 goals in 68 games.  Anyone can bring great skill and technique to the game but it's the player that can gel with the rest of the team that make them exceptional.  Bertuzzi has been a great fit so far on the Flames number one line.

Langkow, Cammalleri and Phaneuf contributed at least 6 points each so far this season which is encouraging as they play in Calgary's top two lines.  However, Regehr's performance so far has been disappointing.  He is the only veteran on the Flames to remain pointless after six games played.  The season is young and one can hope that this defenseman can find his mojo before it's too late.
