Mac Fetish

Guess what?  Yes.  I'm in posession of my first Macintosh computer since the original Macintosh Plus.

I had my hacintosh before but that was what it is, a hacked OSX installation on rigged PC hardware.  This time, I'm legit mom!  My MacBook Pro (refurbished) came in the mail via fedex today and I went promptly to the depot to pick it up at lunch time.  I've heard others complaining that the boxes the refurbished units are shipped in are plain old brown boxes.  To my surprise, it was a plain old brown box, but no different than the plan old brown box I would receive from Dell or IBM.  This goes to show how spoiled MacFans really are!

I haven't had a chance to setup my MacBook Pro yet but I will later tonight.  I did unbox it in the parking lot and check everything out (it comes with restore CD's!!)  The cool thing is that the MBP doesn't look at all refurbished and everything included is brand new.  Which seriously makes me wonder how places like Futureshop/BestBuy, Staples, and similar electronics outlets sells off their "opened boxed" items at near brand new prices when you can often purchase a refurbished unit from Apple for less.
