The Dark Side of Tech Companies

Dailytech reported today that the Electric Car manufacture, Tesla Motors, laid off a large part of their workforce through the use of a blog! Reports from the car maker is that 100 employees were let go. The real kicker is that they found out their fate through another auto blog site, which was tipped off by their own bosses! To put some icing on this crap sandwich, some of those that were able to keep their jobs were told to relocate to the San Jose offices without any company assistance or adjustment in salary.
I can certainly appreciate that the economy is tough. I'm currently employed in the construction industry and it's cutback season like you wouldn't believe: Christmas Parties canceled, Staff Vacations on hold, Layoffs of biblical proportions. But at the very least you were given your pink slip and escorted out the door by the HR representative or a supervisor. To find out that your fate was decided prior to your arrival on a Monday morning from an auto maker blog that seriously takes the cake. Just because a company is technologically based doesn't mean that common courtesy should not be observed. I work in construction so does that mean my pink slips are chunks of wood?
This certainly brings to light the integrity and character of management at Tesla. I hope that those rich folks who had pre-order their roadsters would reconsider their purchases in light of this. Who am I kidding, this is America after all.
