Staying connected online sometimes means living a transparent life. For PC Gamers, that’s often a lot of ALT-TABing to swap between screens of WoWhead, MSN, iTunes, or any other social control panel and their games. There have been a lot of tools that has promised full integration with games and social networks but none as seamless as PlayXpert.
PlayXpert was originally created to facilitate the use of web resources while in game for MMO players. If you have ever played an MMO, you will know how often you need to check resource sites for recipes, reagents, or location of mobs. PlayXpert was developed as a platform for you to run widgets while you were in another application, such as a game, that normally does not run in a window or is very difficult to ALT-TAB out of. Since it’s launch, PlayXpert has a library of over 15 widgets that can be installed into the PlayXpert platform. The core widgets include tools to connect to all of your instant messaging services, an integrated web browser, a music controller (for either iTunes, Winamp, or WMP) and a diagnostics pane. But the beauty of PlayXpert is its ability to allow for additional widgets to be developed and plugged into the platform. Plugin widgets that has been developed include such tools as a command prompt, access to Gmail, Pandora integration, and WoWhead. But on Thursday, PlayXpert announced it will be diving into the Twitterverse with its first Twitter integrated plugin.
“Twitter has become an elemental way for people to share information about anything they are doing, thinking, or discovering,” said Charles Manning, CEO of PlayXpert. “For gamers, having access to Tweet to their network while in-game is a critical feature and demonstrates the power of the PlayXpert platform to bring everything into the game experience for users.”
The Twitter widget also allows automatic Tweets when users launch or stop playing specific games. The automated Tweets are particularly valuable to facilitate social gaming in multiplayer games such as World of Warcraft®, Call of Duty®, and Company of Heroes®. The PlayXpert in-game operating system works across any PC game allowing all PC gamers to Tweet without leaving the immersive environment of their favorite game.
For those that use Twitter, it’s primarily a tool to stay connected and to update your network on your thoughts and happenings. This tool can also serve large guilds or clans that would like to keep a record of their progress through a mission or a raid through out the night. Give PlayXpert a try at www.playxpert.com, its platform is a free download and all the widgets are available via the company’s widget gallery.
